IT support for Alberta municipalities and local government

Dependable, accountable IT for the public sector

Towns, villages and municipal offices deliver essential services on tight, accountable budgets — often with aging infrastructure and no dedicated IT staff. Sidecrowd helps Alberta municipalities keep systems secure and dependable, protect public records, and get responsive support that respects both residents' data and taxpayers' dollars.

The Challenges

What municipalities deal with

Privacy and public records

Municipalities are bound by Alberta's Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) and Access to Information Act (ATIA). We help protect personal information and records with proper security and access controls.

Aging infrastructure

Old servers and equipment become risks. We assess, modernize and maintain your infrastructure on a plan that fits the budget.

Accountable spending

Every dollar is public money. Our transparent, flat-rate approach makes IT costs predictable and defensible.

Limited internal IT

Small offices rarely have IT staff. We provide the expertise and coverage of a dedicated team without the headcount.

Compliance & privacy in Alberta

As of June 11, 2025, Alberta's FOIP Act was replaced by the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) and the Access to Information Act (ATIA), which apply to public bodies including municipalities. POPA governs how municipalities collect, use, protect and disclose personal information, while ATIA governs access to records. We help you apply the security safeguards, access controls and backup practices needed to protect residents' personal information and public records under this framework.
